Our education system is in crisis
As Nigerians, we are proud of the country’s rich cultural heritage and the great potential of our youth. But millions of young people are deprived of the chance to build a better life through a quality education and the benefits it offers.
Less than 8% of government spending goes towards education. This puts Nigeria in the bottom eight countries worldwide for education spending.
One in five of the world’s out-of-school children is Nigerian – more than 10 million girls and boys.
Children aren’t learning. Three in four ten year olds can’t read a simple sentence or solve a basic math problem.
